School Kitchen Cooks & Kitchen Assistants Required
Empowering Learning - Teesside

Empowering Learning is currently recruiting experienced Kitchen Cooks and Kitchen Assistants to work within school settings across the Teesside area.

We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking individuals who are passionate about preparing and serving nutritious meals while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.

Pay Rate: £15.00 - £19.00 per hour
Location: Various school settings across Teesside
Hours: Flexible opportunities available, with working hours varying depending on the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing, cooking, and serving meals in line with school menus and dietary requirements
Assisting with food preparation and presentation
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen
Following food safety procedures and HACCP guidelines
Operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively
Receiving and storing deliveries correctly
Washing utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas as required
Supporting the wider catering team to ensure smooth daily operations
Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience working within a catering, kitchen, or food preparation environment
Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety procedures
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must hold one or more of the following relevant qualifications:

Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (minimum requirement)
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Professional Cookery, Catering, Hospitality, or a related subject (desirable for Cook positions)
HACCP Awareness Training (desirable)

Compliance Requirements:

Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Empowering Learning
