A welcoming and well-established secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker to join their premises team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant or someone with strong practical skills who is looking for flexible shift work within a school environment.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will help ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean and well maintained. Duties will include:

Opening and securing the school premises
Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
Supporting the smooth running of the school site
Completing routine health and safety checks
Assisting with deliveries and contractors
Maintaining outdoor areas and communal spaces
Reporting any maintenance or security issues
Responding to day-to-day site requirements
Ensuring the school provides a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Reliable, punctual and hardworking
Practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Flexible and willing to work different shifts
Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, students and visitors
Experienced in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance or similar rolePrevious experience working within a school is desirable but not essential.
