School-based Youth Justice Prevention Officer (Liverpool)

Contract / 35 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly expanded Prevention Team working with young people, parents and carers in school settings as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve young people’s engagement with education, improve attendance and support young people on their education journey. 

Your role will be to support young people to improve their attendance in school as well as improving their engagement in their education placement. 

The team works collaboratively with stakeholders including schools, safeguarding teams, health care providers, CAMHS and the Police to achieve the best outcomes for children in education settings. 

The role will provide the opportunity to develop creative, strengths-based approaches to working with children and families. 

The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and support to enhance skills, knowledge and experience of working with additional support needs in their education settings.

You will be based within the school although you will also be expected to support young people and their families within the community. 

You will also be able to work from home at times where the demands of the duties allow. 

As it is expected that you will be working within communities it is essential that you are a Car Driver/have access to appropriate transport to travel citywide. 

Please note, within Liverpool Targeted Services this role is known as 'Targeted Services Officer'.

Qualifications and Training:

Desirable

Graduate or similar level of qualification in an area related to working with young people or offenders (A)

Experience:

Essential

Experience of working with young people and their families (A,I)

Experience of delivering group and individual programmes of work with young people (A,I)

Experience of case management with young people (A,I)

Knowledge of and experience of applying LCC Child Protection procedures (A,I)

Desirable

Experience of working in a team and the ability to contribute to team and service developments
