Safety Engineer
Defence | Systems Safety | UK Clearance Required
Safety-critical systems don't get a second chance. Neither should your career stall on projects that don't matter.
We're looking for a Principal Safety Engineer to take the lead on complex, safety-critical systems across multiple defence platforms - shaping the standards, not just following them.
What you'll own:
Drive safety analysis that matters: HAZOPs, FTA, FMECA, Functional Failure Analysis - done to Def Stan 00-056 and IEC 61508
Set the safety requirements that determine whether a system meets the customer's targets, not just the paperwork
Stand in front of stakeholders - internal and external - and make the case for safety decisions that stick
Collaborate across disciplines to raise the bar on every output that carries your name
Represent the function at design reviews, audits, and safety committeesWhat you bring:
A track record delivering Systems Safety in UK Defence - degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent hands-on experience
Real fluency in IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056, not just awareness
Comfort with COTS PE systems and high-integrity software assurance
Hands-on experience with hazard identification, FMECA, FTA, and Functional Failure Analysis
Confidence building ALARP justifications that hold up under scrutinySecurity clearance required - reach out and we'll walk you through it.
