Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum + Company benefits.
Location: Hybrid / Remote (Requires monthly site visits near Edinburgh, Scotland)

Start Date: November to Dec 2026

We are seeking an experienced Safety Case Engineer with a strong background in civil or defence nuclear environments to join our engineering team. Working alongside our Safety Case Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering robust, high-quality safety arguments and technical solutions that ensure our nuclear facility meets the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Whether you are looking to lead key technical deliverables or step up into representing senior management, this role offers an exciting blend of technical depth, strategic influence, and leadership opportunities.

Role Specifics:

* Deliver High-Impact Safety Cases: Produce safety case deliverables and documentation aligned with UK relevant good practice and ALARP principles.

* Lead Technical Solutions: Apply core engineering principles and theories across the product lifecycle—owning designs, calculations, and risk analyses.

* Guide & Mentor: Provide clear direction and safety advice to cross-functional teams, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting overall technical delivery.

* Collaborate & Represent: Work independently or lead collaborative efforts to solve complex problems, standing in for the Safety Case Manager as required.

* Manage Risk: Conduct Hazard Identification, Design Basis Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessments (PRA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

What We’re Looking For

* Industry Experience: A solid engineering background within the civil or defence nuclear sector.

* Safety Case Expertise: Proven track record in constructing safety arguments, writing detailed technical reports, and working with UK regulatory frameworks.

* Technical Risk Assessment: Hands-on experience in hazard analysis, FMEA, PRA, and Design Basis Analysis.

* Leadership & Communication: Outstanding collaborative skills with the initiative to work independently, guide non-safety project functions, and communicate complex concepts clearly.

* Flexibility: Willingness to travel monthly to our site near Edinburgh, Scotland.

* Availability: Ready to start between November 2026 and January 2027.

Salary:

* Competitive Compensation: £70,000 – £75,000 per annum.

* Flexibility: Balance site visits near Edinburgh with flexible/remote working arrangements.

* Impactful Work: Be directly accountable for safety-critical deliverables that protect people, facilities, and the environment.
