???? Duration: 1st July 2024 - 27th September 2024

???? Location: Ashton-under-Lyne (7 mins walk from train station, 9 mins walk from tram station)

???? Our client, an organisation based in Ashton-under-Lyne, is seeking a skilled Risk, Insurance & Information Governance (RIIG) Officer to join their team. As the RIIG Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring information governance compliance, managing risks, and supporting data protection initiatives.

???? RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES ????

???? Information Governance:

Keep the Information Governance Framework up-to-date and aligned with business strategies and legal requirements.
Enable user understanding of the Information Governance Framework and promote adherence among staff.
Develop and maintain the Information Governance pages on the intranet.
Advise on risk management and countermeasures to mitigate information risks.
Assist in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Build relationships with senior managers and partner organisations to ensure compliance with information governance policies.
Organise and support Information Governance Group meetings.
Advocate for future requirements and recommend improvements to the Information Governance Group.
Conduct audits and security reviews to minimise data/information losses and incidents.
Monitor conformance with the Information Governance Framework and report to management.
Investigate and manage information incidents in collaboration with Legal and HR.
Work closely with the Risk, Insurance and Information Governance Assistant to maintain the Information Incident Log.
Provide reports and statistics on information governance-related issues.
Prepare and deliver training and awareness sessions for elected members and officers.
???? EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS ????

???? To be considered for this role, you should have the following qualifications:

GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
A Levels or equivalent in a relevant subject.
NVQ in public administration or equivalent.
Insurance qualifications.
Records Management or Information Governance Qualification.
✅ EXPERIENCE ✅

???? The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

Previous risk management and insurance claims experience.
Experience working with data protection, freedom of information, or information governance issues.
Understanding of information governance issues in a local government environment.
Experience assessing risks and compiling risk registers.
Familiarity with business continuity methodology.
Ability to handle multiple inquiries and tasks simultaneously in a timely manner.
Experience in preparing and delivering training courses.

Strong communication and letter-writing skills.
Proficient in Information Technology.
Excellent organisational skills.

Understanding of risk management and insurance concepts and processes.
Knowledge of Data Protection legislation, Freedom of Information Act, and Information Governance requirements in a local government environment.
Familiarity with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (desirable).
Awareness of business continuity management concepts.
