We are looking for a Residential Support Worker in Northampton. It is a wonderful opportunity in one of the homes of prestigious employer.
You will become part of a small, caring team supporting young people. Your role will be diverse and shift based and will include overnight sleep-ins.
Your day may include taking the young people to school, appointments and activities. Your daily tasks may include some administration, household chores, cooking and helping young people with their personal care.
The Candidate:
* Be 22 years old and over
* Have a passion for, and ideally experience of, working with children
* Have excellent communication skills
* Have a full UK manual driving licence
* Be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure
* Be eligible to work in the UK.

Duties and responsibilities includes: 1. Care of Young People
• Participates fully in the rota as part of the care team. To include: care and domestic duties, accompanying young people to school and supporting them during the day as part of the team, night time sleeping-in duties.
o Supervises and supports young people in accordance with their personal plans and the policies of the home.
o Acts as key worker for one young person, including responsibility for: co-ordinating the achievement of his/her personal plan, providing any necessary support, keeping appointments such as visits to the doctor, liaison with other services, preparing for reviews and acting as internal advocate.
o Provides support within Education, including: promoting the integration of care and education, acting as support worker within the education setting as required, acting as the daily link between education staff and care setting.
o Works with and manages difficult behaviour, enabling young people to develop from needing external control, to exercising self-control.
o Organises and participates in appropriate activities, play and recreation for the young people.
o Works with families of young people as appropriate.
General Duties
• While on duty makes entries in young people’s records, diaries and reports as necessary, strictly in accordance with company policies. Maintains effective administration records including Reports, reviews, Court Reports, Records of Appointments, Case Review Dates, Discharge Plans etc. are kept within company policy and procedure so that all documentation is always accurate and up to date and relevant for the purpose for which it will be required.
• Exercises vigilance in respect of Health and Safety matters, promptly reporting all hazards and/or remedying them where appropriate. Works in such a manner as to minimise unnecessary risks to self or to others.
• Operates at all times in accordance with contents of the policy folder, as amended locally, with particular reference to Young Person Protection, Equal Opportunities, Complaints and Behaviour Policies.
• Conducts self at all times in the interests of the young people served.
• Participates in training, taking responsibility for own personal development.
• Participates in regular teams and other professional meetings.
• Participates in regular supervision and annual appraisal process.
• Pursues appropriate staff development and training programmes which enables the post holder to undertake their duties in a professional manner.
• Participates and attends regular staff meetings.
• Takes responsibility for the home in the absence of the Home Manager, Deputy Manager and Senior Child Care Practitioner, dealing with the day-to-day operations of the home but referring unusual matters and emergencies to a more senior member of staff.
Salary Info:
* Sleeps are £62.64
* £23,795 per annum without sleeps. £11.46 an hour.
* If someone is QCF qualified salary starts at £24,295 per annum without sleeps. £11.70 an hour.
