Paralegal - Residential Conveyancing

Overview

An established legal practice is seeking a Paralegal to join its Residential Conveyancing team. This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of legal services through a combination of fee-earning and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will assist with legal matters under supervision, manage their own caseload where appropriate, draft legal documents and correspondence, review case documentation, and support transactional processes.

The role also involves providing comprehensive administrative assistance, maintaining accurate file management systems, supporting client communications, and ensuring a high standard of client care. Candidates should be organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Fee-Earning and Casework

Assist with conveyancing matters under supervision, managing your own caseload where appropriate.
Draft legal documents, forms, and correspondence.
Review, organise, and maintain case documentation received from clients and third parties.
Prepare financial records, invoices, and assist with the completion and distribution of funds.
Process instructions in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
Ensure files are progressed efficiently and accurately.

Administrative Support

Provide administrative support to the conveyancing team.
Assist with diary management, scheduling appointments, and maintaining key deadlines.
Open, maintain, archive, and retrieve client files.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Prepare documents, bundles, and supporting paperwork as required.
Assist with scanning, copying, and document management tasks.

Client Communication

Support communications with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other third parties.
Handle telephone enquiries and relay messages accurately.
Maintain professional and positive relationships with clients throughout the conveyancing process.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Respond to client enquiries promptly and professionally.

Teamwork and Professional Development

Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
Organise and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work under pressure.
Use initiative to resolve issues and improve processes where appropriate.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Undertake any additional duties required to support the department.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience within a legal support, legal secretary, paralegal, or conveyancing role would be advantageous.
Residential Conveyancing experience is preferred.
Fast and accurate typing and document production skills.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using legal case management systems would be beneficial.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
Ability to manage confidential information professionally and discreetly.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Capable of prioritising workloads and working effectively in a busy environment.
