Research & Development Engineer - Manufacturing

Offering Circa. £43,000 - £48,000 Basic Salary plus Great Benefits!

Our client is an established and highly respected manufacturing business based in North Yorkshire. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Research & Development Engineer to join their technical department.

As a Research & Development Engineer, you will help create new and tailor existing solutions, creating bespoke products that meet agreed objectives, performance requirements, and customer expectations. The role spans mechanical design, electronics support, and in-house testing, offering significant variety and exposure.

Research & Development Engineer – Key Responsibilities

* Support the design, development, and improvement of electromechanical products and systems.

* Assist with electronic design activities, including schematic development, design reviews, component selection, and much more.

* Produce and maintain CAD technical drawings, models, and documentation.

* Support prototype development, assembly, and evaluation activities.

* Conduct hardware and system-level fault finding, debugging, and problem-solving activities.

* Investigate technical issues, analyse system performance, and support root-cause investigations.

* Perform structured testing and verification activities, accurately recording and reporting results.

* Provide engineering support during prototype builds, product introduction, and manufacturing activities.

* Contribute to product reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

* Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate engineering records.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project delivery and technical objectives.

Research & Development Engineer – Candidate

* STEM related Degree is preferred.

* PCB Design skills and experience.

* Experience gained within a relevant engineering role i.e. PCB Engineer, Electronics Application Engineer, Embedded Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Product Development Engineer or similar.

* Strong understanding of electromechanical engineering principles would be ideal.

* Proven ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into practical, deliverable engineering solutions.

* Be an effective communicator who is comfortable liaising with customers to better understand their ‘pain points’ and identify best fit solution.

* With strong Microsoft skills, able to create detailed and presentable customer-facing technical documentation.

The Research & Development Engineer position is offering £43,000 - £48,000 basic salary plus great benefits! This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm. Based at our client’s North Yorkshire office with flexibility to work home based 1-2 days per week when possible.
