Remote Payroll Manager

Description:

Portfolio Payroll is working alongside a leading payroll services provider who are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee a diverse multi‑client portfolio on an initial 6‑month fixed term contract, with strong potential to transition into a permanent position. This fully remote role offers autonomy, complexity, and the chance to manage large‑scale payroll delivery across a wide range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

Managing multi‑client portfolios - Oversee payroll delivery for 19 clients, covering approximately 50,000 payslips across 25 payroll cycles.
End‑to‑end payroll oversight - Ensure accurate, compliant processing across varied pay frequencies and client requirements.
System ownership - Lead payroll operations using SAP SuccessFactors, ensuring smooth BAU delivery and system optimisation.
Quality assurance - Maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance, and service across all client outputs.
Stakeholder collaboration - Work closely with the Payroll Lead and internal teams to resolve queries, improve processes, and support continuous improvement.

Ideal Experience

**Strong bureau background**** - Proven experience managing multiple clients in a fast‑paced bureau environment.
High‑volume processing - Comfortable delivering payroll at scale, with complex multi‑cycle workloads.
SAP SuccessFactors expertise - Confident navigating and delivering payroll through SAP SuccessFactors.
BAU leadership - Skilled in maintaining smooth day‑to‑day operations while managing competing deadlines.
Strong communication & organisation - Able to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain exceptional accuracy.

Contract Details

6‑month FTC with high likelihood of becoming permanent
Salary up to £53,000
Fully remote working
Reporting directly to the Payroll Lead
