About us

My Life is a highly respected charity and we are currently seeking qualified Nurses and Personal Assistants / Carer / Support Worker to join our growing team near Colne and surrounding areas. My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. My Life currently provides care and support to a growing number of individuals who have complex health care needs across the North West of England. Our staff are integral to the success of the charity as they are the ones making a real difference to people’s lives.

Responsibilities

There are part time and full time roles available, for a Registered Nurse / Personal Assistant / Carer / Support Worker, supporting a young man with complex epilepsy who lives with his Mum and Dad. As a Registered Nurse you will be working with a Personal Assistant / Carer / Support Worker supporting him at home with appropriate activities, taking him out and about in the community and generally keeping him healthy, safe and well. As part of the My Life team, you will ensure that care is provided in a way that respects the individual and promotes their independence.

What you'll need to succeed

Registered Nurse - In order to succeed, you will be a Registered Nurse with a Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing. You will ideally, also have experience of working with individuals who have complex medical conditions, epilepsy mental health issues and/or learning disabilities. You will be self-motivated, flexible, have the ability to use your own initiative whilst being caring and sensitive to the needs of others. You must have a passion for providing personalised care and ideally, you will hold a full driving licence.

Personal Assistant / Carer / Support Worker - In order to succeed, you will be kind-hearted and fun to make a positive difference to this young man’s life, enhancing his day and enabling him to access the community. Ideally, you will have experience working as a Personal Assistant / Carer / Support Worker ideally with someone with epilepsy and/or autism and be able to support a person with health needs. If not, full training will be offered. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have the ability to use your own initiative whilst being caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
