Overview of a Refuse Loader:
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Refuse Loader to join an expanding team. The role of Refuse Loader has a competitive pay rate of £13.67 per hour. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
The Main Purpose of a Refuse Loader:
" To undertake duties connected with the removal of refuse, recycling or other waste materials.
" Assist the Driver in the safe manoeuvring of the vehicle on the round.
" Collect and convey refuse to the collection vehicle.
" Empty refuse and/or recycling containers into the collection vehicle, including where appropriate, safe operation of vehicle mounted tipping mechanisms.
" Ensure that what is loaded will not damage the vehicle or tipping mechanism.
" Return empty refuse and/or recycling containers to designated point ensuring that all gates, compound doors, etc., are left as found.
" Always pick up any loose and spilt refuse and deposit in the refuse hopper be courteous and polite to all customers, pedestrians, and other road users.
" Report any accidents, damage and hazards to the Driver/Charge-hand immediately.
" To participate in the delivery of leaflets to properties on Bank Holidays when there are changes in collection schedules, and when recycling schemes are introduced or developed.
" Ensure that all work undertaken complies with the relevant Operating Procedure/Codes of Practice and is in accordance with Council and Statutory requirements.
" At all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as detailed in the Operations Manual
" To undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the grade and level of the post
About you, the successful Refuse Loader will have:
" Basic verbal and written communication skills - able to follow verbal or written instructions.
" Ability to always provide a high standard of customer care ensuring high excellence of service delivery.
" Ability to work with minimum of supervision.
" Able to report to work by hours daily.
