Description:

Refit & Repair Manager We are currently seeking an experienced Refit & Repair Manager to join an established and growing marine refit and repair business in Hampshire.

Our client is an independent yacht refit, repair and maintenance specialist, delivering high-quality workmanship across a broad range of projects. Their experienced team covers multiple marine disciplines, including shipwrighting, joinery, marine engineering and rigging, with projects ranging from routine maintenance through to complex refits on vessels up to approximately 40m.

The Role As Refit & Repair Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of multiple yacht refit and repair projects, coordinating people, resources and workloads across a range of marine trades.

This is a hands-on management position for someone with a strong and broad technical understanding of the marine industry. You will need to understand the requirements of different trades, how they interact within a refit project, realistic timescales and what good-quality workmanship looks like.

Working closely with the wider management team, you will help ensure projects are properly planned, efficiently delivered and completed to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of refit, repair and maintenance projects across multiple vessels

Maintain a strong understanding of current and upcoming workload across all trades and disciplines

Assist with planning and coordinating weekly project schedules, balancing priorities, resources and deadlines

Ensure teams have a clear understanding of their workload, priorities, timescales and expected standards

Monitor progress against agreed schedules, estimated hours and project requirements

Identify potential delays or resource issues and take proactive action to keep projects moving

Provide practical and technical support to teams across different marine disciplines

Coordinate the requirements of shipwrights, joiners, marine engineers, riggers and other specialist trades

Assist with procurement and material planning, ensuring the correct equipment and materials are available when required

Manage and monitor team performance, including productivity, quality, attitude and adherence to agreed processes

Carry out quality control across completed work, using a strong understanding of marine construction, repair and refit standards

Ensure job information, labour hours and project updates are accurately recorded

Oversee the management, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and workshop resources

Support the resolution of technical, operational and resource-related issues as they arise

Promote a positive, organised and professional working environment across the yard

Work closely with management to continually improve project delivery, efficiency and quality

The Ideal Candidate This role would suit an experienced marine professional who has developed a broad understanding of yacht refit and repair, alongside the leadership and organisational skills required to manage multiple projects and teams.

You do not necessarily need to have been a manager across every individual trade, but you will need sufficient technical knowledge and credibility to understand, challenge and quality-check work across a multidisciplinary refit environment.

Ideally, you will have:

Extensive experience within the marine industry, particularly yacht refit, repair or maintenance

Strong knowledge of multiple marine trades and disciplines

Previous experience coordinating or managing refit, repair, maintenance or yard projects

Experience working with shipwrighting, joinery, engineering, rigging and/or other yacht trades

Experience within the luxury yacht sector would be advantageous

Strong leadership and people-management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Strong organisational and planning skills

A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail

A good understanding of quality standards and expectations within the marine industry

The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple vessels and projects

A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach

The confidence and technical credibility to lead experienced tradespeople and challenge when required

The Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced marine professional to step into a key management position within a busy yacht refit and repair environment.

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, work across a broad range of marine disciplines and play a significant part in maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and customer service.
