Job Title: Recruitment and HR Officer

Reports to: Managing Director/Directors

Salary: Pro-rata of £24,000-£26,000, depending on experience

Position Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 35-40 hours per week/Flexible by arrangement

Location: Mainly office-based in Llantrisant, CF72 8BY. Occasional visits to our Northern Regional office in Rotherham as required

Job Purpose

The Recruitment and HR Officer will collaborate closely with team members while also demonstrating autonomy to deliver comprehensive support across various functions. Reporting directly to the Managing Director & Directors. The role involves coordinating, organising, and executing all human resource and organisational development initiatives and processes within the company.

This is a varied role and provides exposure to a wide range of HR activities.

What You’ll Be Working On

Recruitment

* Coordinate the process of the recruitment cycle by preparing job descriptions, placing job adverts on appropriate sites, shortlisting/pre-screening, preparing interview questions and assessments, organising interviews, and managing communications.

* Be responsible for the starter and leaver process, including all right-to-work checks, documentation management, induction processes, and exit interviews.

* Assist in payroll preparations monthly by providing relevant data and creating the payroll submission report.

Operational HR Activities

* Handle employee relations cases, such as absence reviews, queries, and complaints, and escalate complex matters when necessary.

* Manage role change processes, such as a change to working hours, the role, or termination, by communicating with relevant stakeholders, issuing formal letters, updating HR software systems, and informing payroll department.

* Take effective notes of formal meetings, including grievances, disciplinaries, sickness absence reviews, and capability meetings.

* Update company documents, policies, and handbooks as required.

* Assist in pay and benefits projects by undertaking pay benchmark exercises, keeping a repository of data to support client projects, and carrying out job evaluation exercises, as required.

Organisational Learning, Development, and EDI

* Assist in employee engagement and appraisal services, including survey setup, data analysis, and report preparation.

* Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate developments, survey results, and learning initiatives.

* Conduct research, design content for learning materials, and facilitate training courses in line with our L&D strategy.

* Be responsible for EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) services, including establishing offerings.

General

* Proactively support the Managing Director, Directors and the wider management team in preparing for meetings and completing projects.

* Responsible for continuous improvement by administering feedback data, communicating results, promoting success stories, and improving processes.

* Prepare, track, and report on success measures and KPIs to a high standard and promptly.

* Stay updated on employment law and HR trends to ensure compliance and best practice.

* Attend and help organise occasional networking events to promote the business and our services.

* Undertake any other delegated tasks and projects as required.

What We’re Looking For

To excel in this role, you’ll need a combination of experience, skills, and attributes. Here are the key requirements:

* Experience & Knowledge: Proven experience in HR roles, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, and administration. Demonstrable knowledge of HR practices, aligned with best practices and employment law is essential. Experience in a generalist HR role is essential, with experience of learning and development, and organisational development both desirable.

* Skills: Demonstrable problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Excellent customer service and communication skills with proficient IT and effective planning skills.

* Attributes: A collaborative and open-minded attitude, a dedication to achieving high performance, flexibility in task execution, reliability, and professionalism

* Education & Qualification: Desirable but not essential, a degree or equivalent qualification in HR, Business Administration or a related field, along with a CIPD level 3 qualification or equivalent or qualified by experience. Additional certifications in relevant fields are a plus.
