Part Time: 22.2 Hours Per Week / 3 Days Per Week

As directed by the SDAS Young Persons & Family Service Manager/ Family Safeguarding Team Leader, the Safeguarding Recovery Worker will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team within the Somerset Family Safeguarding Team delivering comprehensive interventions, underpinned by Motivational Interviewing Techniques, that will include delivering a full range of outreach, open access and case management services, Support medically assisted recovery where appropriate, and recovery interventions to families affected by substance use where children are subject to Children Protection or Child in Need Plans.

As a Family Safeguarding Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £24,150 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £28,252 per year (Pro-Rata). (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

To provide high quality support and interventions to the highest risk families as part of the Family Safeguarding Team. This includes working with adults and young people with a history of substance use to achieve their goals and improve outcomes for the whole family.

The Safeguarding Family Recovery Worker is responsible for providing the full range of services across an operational site in Somersetas well as the outreach provision in the locality area.

The Safeguarding Family Recovery Worker will carry a case load and provide screening, comprehensive assessments, needle exchange, risk assessment and risk management, recovery planning & review, support access to medically assisted recovery (through titration and prescribing regimes), provide outreach services including home visits, deliver 1-1 key working sessions as well as semi and structured groups to support families through engagement, detoxification, stabilisation and rehabilitation.

Thepost will be required to contribute to the overall aims and objectives of the Family Safeguarding Team by compiling data and progress reports as directed and in line with the Family Safeguarding Workbook.

The focus of all interventions will be:

To reduce substance related harm to the individual and their children

To reduce the negative impact on children and families of parental substance use and associated lifestyle factors

To promote healthier life styles and increase family choice

To promote and support parents/carers into both abstinence based and medically assisted forms of recovery

To provide effective case management and coordination of the individual’s treatment plan in support of the children’s CP or CIN Plan.

To promote family members involvement to improve outcomes for children

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved and will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across operational sites as required and within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.

The Ideal Candidate

Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment as a Recovery Worker or similar, you'll have a deep understanding of substance use and the Recovery Agenda. It's an extremely varied role, so flexibility, a track record of DANOS compliance and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. Naturally, we also look for Recovery Workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.

Excellent IT skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook etc. are essential for this role. (Tested at interview)

The facilitation of workshops, managing of recovery coordination sessions, compiling risk assessments and risk management plans, care planning and reduction plans are just some of the varied duties you will be providing.
