Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in West Sussex, who are seeking a passionate and qualified Reception Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Early Years specialist to inspire young learners at the very start of their school journey within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the Role

As a Reception Class Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, creative and developmentally appropriate learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will create a warm, stimulating classroom where children feel safe, confident and ready to explore, while supporting their social, emotional, physical and academic development.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality EYFS lessons and activities tailored to Reception-aged pupils
Create a safe, nurturing and engaging classroom environment that promotes curiosity and independence
Assess, monitor and record children’s progress in line with EYFS expectations
Support children’s communication, language, phonics, early literacy and numeracy development
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and senior leaders
Build positive relationships with parents and carers to support each child’s learning journey
Promote safeguarding, inclusion and positive behaviour across the classroom
Candidate Profile

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching within Early Years or Reception is highly desirable
Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early child development
Warm, nurturing and creative approach to teaching
Excellent classroom management, organisation and communication skills
A genuine passion for supporting children during their first stage of school life
Requirements

UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Two professional teaching references
Eligibility to work in the UK
