We are working with a well-regarded primary school in South Harrow, seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Reception Teacher to join their Early Years team from January 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a school with a strong EYFS ethos, supportive leadership and a genuine commitment to high-quality early years education.

About the role

As Reception Teacher, you will take ownership of your class and lead the delivery of a rich, engaging early years curriculum rooted in play-based learning, the EYFS statutory framework and Development Matters.

You will foster a warm, language-rich classroom environment where children feel safe and inspired to explore and develop across all seven areas of learning. Systematic synthetic phonics underpins the school's early reading approach, and your confidence in delivering this consistently will be key.

Working alongside your teaching assistant and the wider EYFS team, you will carry out ongoing assessment, maintain accurate learning journeys and contribute to transition planning. The school works closely with parents and the local community, and you will be expected to build positive relationships with families from the outset.

The SENCO and specialist staff are in place to support children with additional needs, and you will work collaboratively with them to ensure every child has access to a high-quality learning experience.

What we are looking for

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
Experience teaching in Reception or a Nursery setting within a primary school
Thorough knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and Development Matters
Confidence delivering systematic synthetic phonics and early reading
Skilled at planning and leading play-based, child-initiated learning

A nurturing, consistent approach with strong relationship-building skills
Awareness of SEND and EAL needs in an early years context
