Salary and Hours
* £28,000 - £35,000, dependant on experience
* 40 hours per week, with an earlier finish on Friday’s
* 28 days holiday, which increases with service
Role Overview / Focus
The R&D Test Technician will play a hands-on role in product testing, fault-finding and electronics development, carrying out design verification and supporting the development of in-circuit and End-of-Line test equipment. You’ll diagnose and repair PCB and product failures, including EOL failures and RMAs returned from the field, while working independently to investigate and resolve faults.
R&D Test Technician Candidate Key Requirements
* HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline.
* Hands-on electronics experience, including PCB testing, soldering/rework, cable harness assembly and fault diagnosis.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose faults and learn new technologies quickly.
* Interest in IoT, connected devices and device-to-cloud communications, with the ability to work across both hardware and software testing.
* Organised and self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, work independently and build effective relationships across the business.
R&D Test Technician Key Responsibilities
* Build and test prototypes, test harnesses and jigs, carrying out design validation and product testing.
* Perform electronics testing and fault-finding, including environmental, EMC, ESD and functional testing.
* Diagnose and repair PCB and product faults, processing RMAs and reworking EOL/QA failures to a high standard.
* Carry out software and integration testing, including product Apps and connected device-to-cloud systems.
* Record and report test results, support Design Engineers and work with suppliers on the development of bespoke manufacturing test equipment.
The R&D Test Technician role is Commutable From: Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield, Leicester, Newark on Trent, Grantham
