Description:

Consilium Recruit are supporting a thriving business in the construction products arena with the recruitment of an R&D Engineer on a permanent basis. This role is based on a blend between on-site and hybrid working and is responsible for the design, development, and prototyping of new products.

Commutable from:  Hereford, Worcester, Leominster, Monmouth, Evesham

Salary: Negotiable Salary dependent on experience in addition to generous employer pension contribution + health cash back + 33 days annual leave.

The Role:

The R&D Engineer will conduct extensive research and engage in prototyping exercises to produce innovative solution across the product range, typically utilising advancements in the fields of plastic moulding, rapid prototyping / 3D printing and assembly techniques.

You will ensure that the customer is able to access the latest innovations in the products to drive cost efficiency, material efficiency, manufacturing efficiency and sustainability in the product.

The R&D Engineer will align with the businesses global R&D objectives linked to the aims above and ensuring that the relevant stakeholders are fully engaged in the product development process.

The R&D Engineer will stay abreast of the latest collaborative R&D opportunities within external funding bodies including academic/industrial collaborations, Innovate UK funding streams and government initiatives.

The companies’ product range makes a huge contribution to a highly sustainable future and as such you will play an active role in driving this theme in your work.

The Person:

The successful candidate for the role of R&D Engineer will ideally possess a degree or equivalent level qualification and be conversant with modern manufacturing product development tools and gateways. You will be well versed in the design and prototyping of mechanical and electromechanical systems with a high level of competency in the applicable CAD packages.

The R&D Engineer will demonstrate strong project management skills and be able to work with a pan-European team on shared R&D initiatives, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement.

You will be highly commercially aware of the cost of R&D and prototyping, noting both best practice in design for manufacture and risk-based design, alongside a good understanding of the full range of cost factors in an R&D/new production cycle.

The role offers excellent progression and development and as such some international travel will be required for the position to both the EMEA and US regions.
