Job Purpose

To support the provision of radiological protection advice service to NWS (including construction projects and all contractors carrying out any work on behalf of NWS) so the business remains compliant with policy, statutory and Site Licence requirements.

Job Purpose

To support the provision of radiological protection advice service to NWS (including construction projects and all contractors carrying out any work on behalf of NWS) so the business remains compliant with policy, statutory and Site Licence requirements.

Responsibilities

Translating of legal and regulatory requirements, and setting of, NWS nuclear & radiological safety standards and policies.
Ownership and compliance with radiological safety arrangements.
Provision of radiological protection support, and oversight of operational work e.g., site-based projects, assurance of contractors.
Input to developing safety cases and regulatory submissions and their current application.
Input to supply chain assurance on Radiological Protection matters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

Significant understanding of the regulatory expectations with respect to radiological protection arrangements.
Knowledge of Nuclear Site Licence arrangements.
Radiation Protection Adviser with a valid RPA Certificate of Competence issued by an Assessing Body (or be close to achieving this).
Desirable

Experience of being a Radioactive Waste Adviser
Experience of being a Process Owner
Experience of being a Subject Matter Expert
Experience of being a Nuclear Safety Committee Member
Experience in IT Business Application Owner for Dose Control Systems

Maintaining and developing this knowledge and experience is key to securing and developing our unique nuclear waste capabilities for the UK and the rest of the world
