Description:

Quantity Surveyor

North London/Herts

Premises Recruitment is working with a specialist building safety remediation and facades contractor to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercials of a major live project. This is an exciting opportunity for a self sufficient QS who can run a commercially varied scheme with a broad range of trades.

The Company

Our client is a specialist UK contractor delivering façade and building envelope remediation on high rise and higher risk residential buildings. They act as Principal Contractor and manage the full remediation process. Their projects include facade remediation projects as well as some full building refurbishments, including internals.
They're a fantastic business - led by high calibre Directors who are genuinely nice people, a great management team, and a loyal, dedicated staff. They are highly profitable and growing at an impressive, yet controlled pace.

The business has a substantial volume of secured work, with live projects in London and The South East.

The Project

The successful candidate will start on a live scheme, a remediation project across two residential blocks. The first block is valued at over £20m.
Our client is delivering both internal and external works. This brings in a wider range of trades than a typical façade project, including joinery, drylining, ceilings, flooring, bathrooms and MEP, and makes the scheme more involved commercially.

Much of the procurement is already in place, so the focus is post contract. The role reports to the Commercial Manager. There is scope to develop your career across further projects as the pipeline progresses.

The Role

* Take day to day commercial responsibility for your project, reporting to the Commercial Manager

* Prepare and agree valuations

* Identify, assess and manage variations across both the internal and external works

* Manage the commercial side of a multi trade project involving direct, labour only and subcontracted trades

* Work closely with the site and project teams to keep commercial and operational priorities aligned

* Support other projects across the business as required

The Individual

Essential:

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, able to work self sufficiently and run a project’s commercial side without close supervision

* Strong post contract experience, particularly valuations and variations

* The ability to build effective working relationships with site teams

Desirable:

* Experience in building safety remediation, façade or building envelope works

* Experience of multi trade internal works or refurbishment

Salary and Package

£65,000 – £75,000 per annum, depending on experience. Full time, permanent position.

The Opportunity

This role offers commercial ownership of a substantial, multi trade project in the building safety sector, working directly with the Commercial Manager. With further work secured, there is real scope to develop your career over the mid to long term
