Quantity Surveyor – Gloucester – £75,000 + Package
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction business based from their Gloucester head office.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute QS looking to take the next step in their career, with genuine opportunities for career progression, continued professional training and development.
The successful candidate will be joining a supportive commercial team and will have the opportunity to take ownership of their own projects, whilst also gaining exposure to larger and more complex schemes.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from start through to completion. You will work closely with the operational and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and achieve their commercial objectives.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Commercially managing your own projects, typically up to £2m in value, or supporting on larger-scale projects.
* Preparing and managing CVRs and providing accurate commercial reporting.
* Effectively measuring works and maintaining accurate quantities.
* Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
* Monitoring project costs, margins and forecasts.
* Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
* Supporting procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
* Managing contractual and commercial obligations.
* Working closely with the wider project team to maximise commercial performance.
* Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
About You
We're looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who is confident taking ownership and managing projects.
The key requirements for this position are:
* Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
* Experience of running your own project commercially, ideally up to approximately £2m, or experience supporting on larger-scale projects.
* Strong experience in producing and managing CVRs.
* Commercially astute with a strong understanding of costs, margins, forecasting and risk.
* Strong measurement skills, with the ability to measure works accurately and effectively.
* Experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* A proactive approach and the ability to work independently and take ownership.
