Quantity Surveyor – Civils & Groundworks
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 DOE
Job Type: Permanent
Start: ASAP
An established civil engineering and groundworks contractor is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in civils, groundworks or enabling works, with the ability to manage projects commercially from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the commercial aspects of civils and groundworks projects.
* Prepare and submit valuations, variations and payment applications.
* Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and applications.
* Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
* Procure subcontractors and materials.
* Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
* Identify and manage variations and additional works.
* Prepare and agree final accounts.
* Monitor project performance against budget.
* Produce accurate commercial reports and cost forecasts.
* Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors.
* Ensure contractual and commercial obligations are maintained.
* Support the wider commercial team with tendering and pricing where required.
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civils and/or groundworks.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
* Experience managing valuations, variations, subcontractors and final accounts.
* Good understanding of project costs, budgets and forecasting.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
* Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts would be advantageous.
