Quantity Surveyor with Civil Experience
Hawkes Resourcing Group are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor with Civils Experience / knowledge for a position in Newry , Northern Ireland, BT34
You must be willing to travel at work but based in office
Have estimating experience
Strong contractual skills
Approachable and proactive
Position would suit someone looking to progress to a commercial manager as we grow
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
Develop and maintain budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and within projected limits.
Analyse project specifications and drawings to accurately forecast costs.
Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Ensure all contractual documentation is completed and maintained.
Manage contract variations, claims, and disputes efficiently.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan and execute projects.
Monitor project progress and prepare regular financial reports.
Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget constraints.
Identify potential financial and operational risks associated with projects.
Implement risk mitigation strategies and report any issues to senior management.
Source and procure materials and services required for construction projects.
Evaluate and select subcontractors and suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
Manage procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on project status, budget, and any issues that arise.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is preferred.
Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel) and understanding of construction and engineering drawings.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
