Intermediate / Assistant / Graduate Quantity Surveyor

· Full Time

· 40 hours per week plus travel

Department - Commercial
Region - National
Office - Wokingham (with travel in UK & EU )

ABEC Background

· ABEC is an Energy and Building Management System Specialist carrying out new Installations & Projects, Maintenance and Energy Management Services.

· This is a fast growing business with offices in Tewkesbury & Wokingham (UK), Dublin, Frankfurt and Qatar, consisting of over 130 staff and a network of sub contractors and suppliers with a plan to grow considerably over the next few years.

The Role

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor. The main purpose of the role is to ensure commercial and contractual control, and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the execution of the businesses project works.

Responsibilities

1) Ensure monthly applications are submitted on time to the client each period.

2) Ensure variation recovery is achieved through regular site meetings and negotiations with the Client.

3) Be responsible for the procurement process of subcontractors, and the raising of the associated subcontract agreements.

4) Be responsible for producing accurate monthly revenue forecast.

5) Be responsible for the production and management of project by project cashflow statements.

6) Report on the profitability of projects from inception through to completion.

7) Be responsible for reviewing the valuation of, and processing, subcontractor payment certificates.

8) Attend regular (monthly) project review meetings with the Project Managers / Contract Managers in each region to complete cost review documents and report variances to the Commercial Director.

9) Play a lead role in procuring materials at ‘best price’, and source new supply chain partners

10) Provide periodic commercial review of incoming terms and conditions (from clients and suppliers).

11) Review client orders and produce order acknowledgement documentation.

12) Arrange and attend ‘Sales to Operations Handovers’ as necessary

13) To undertake any other duties as requested by Senior Management Team within ABEC

Relevant Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Essential / Desirable

· Minimum of 1 years’ experience within a similar role.
· Fluent in the use of the full Microsoft suite of applications.
· Experience of working with Microsoft Project.
· Experience working within the construction industry.
· Knowledge of the Housing and Grants Construction Act.
· Knowledge of JCT, DOM, NEC form of contract.

Relevant qualifications

Essential / Desirable

· Educated to A level as a minimum.
· GCSE Grade C or above in Maths.
· Actively studying / looking to study to become a qualified Quantity Surveyor.
· Relevant degree qualification to role.

Essential / Desirable

· Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
· Accuracy and attention to detail.
· Proactive attitude.
· Comfortable working as part of a team.
· Excellent negotiation skills
