Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our established Birmingham team specialising in painting, decorating, planned maintenance and refurbishment projects.

Working closely with both commercial and operational teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are commercially successful from tender stage through to final account.

Role and Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor
As part of our commercial team, you will be responsible for the effective financial management of projects across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
Your duties will include:
Preparing accurate estimates and cost plans for tenders and contracts
Producing cost value reconciliations and monitoring project performance
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project lifecycles
Supporting operational teams with budgets, labour targets and cost control measures
Managing valuations, variations and contract negotiations
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Reviewing weekly project performance reports, including costs, productivity and progress
Assisting with the successful commercial delivery of projects through to final accountHealth and safety, commercial compliance and quality standards will be central to everything you do.
Quantity Surveyor Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction, refurbishment, maintenance or property services
Experience managing contracts and projects with annual values of up to £2 million
Strong commercial awareness and experience managing projects from tender stage through to final account
Knowledge of Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts
Excellent numerical, analytical and negotiation skills
Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
The ability to work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams
A proactive approach with a keen eye for commercial opportunities and continuous improvementExperience within painting, decorating, planned maintenance or social housing environments would be advantageous.
