Quantity Surveyor
We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction and civil engineering business in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused individual looking to join a company offering long-term career development, professional mentorship and a strong benefits package.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from initial pricing through to final account. Experience within general civil engineering would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other relevant construction backgrounds will also be considered.
The Quantity Surveyor Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with clients, subcontractors, project teams and senior management to ensure projects are delivered successfully from both a commercial and contractual perspective.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conducting measurements and valuations
Preparing and negotiating interim valuations
Preparing and agreeing final accounts
Monitoring the financial performance of contracts
Producing project performance reports for senior management
Communicating directly with clients regarding project performance
Ensuring customer payments are received within agreed contractual terms
Procuring subcontractors
Managing subcontractor accounts
Pricing projects prior to contract agreement
Supporting the wider commercial team throughout project deliveryQuantity Surveyor Requirements
The successful Quantity Surveyor should ideally have previous experience working within general civil engineering or a similar construction environment.
You will require:
Previous Quantity Surveying experience
Knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 forms of contract - essential
Experience within general civil engineering projects is highly desirable
Degree in Quantity Surveying preferred
HND, HNC or equivalent qualifications will also be considered
Strong commercial and contractual awareness
Experience with valuations and final accounts
Subcontractor procurement and account management experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, ambitious and commercially focused approach
Strong commitment to health and safety
Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 pointsCandidates interested in progressing towards professional membership with organisations such as RICS or CICES would be particularly well suited to the opportunity.
