Quantity Surveyor

Description:

As a Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of various streetworks projects. You will be responsible for cost estimation, contract administration, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. Your expertise in NEC and JCT contracts and Contract Law will be essential in negotiating and managing contracts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
·Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work schedules.
·Manage all financial aspects of streetworks projects, ensuring cost control and financial reporting.
·Administer NEC and JCT contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
·Conduct risk and value management and cost control.
·Prepare and analyze project costings for tenders, including materials, quantities, and labor.
·Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
·Monitor project progress and prepare detailed reports.
·Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
·Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:
·Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the highways or streetworks sector.
·Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
·Solid understanding of Contract Law.
·Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
·Strong communication and negotiation skills.
·Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
·Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, cost estimating software).
·Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
·Professional membership (e.g., RICS) is preferred but not essential.
