The Role:
We're urgently seeking a M&E Quantity Surveyor to work on a new build school development in the Pocklington area of Yorkshire on behalf of our client, one of the UK's biggest M&E contractors.
This is a long-term project set to last until at least Quarter 2 of 2026
This role requires daily on-site presence and collaboration with the main contractor and the project operates under a JCT 2016 Design & Build contract and is currently in the construction phase. MEP works are in the procurement stage and scheduled to commence on-site in late 2024.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all MEP cost-related aspects of the project.
* Collaborate closely with the main contractor and the MEP project team to deliver project objectives on time and within budget.
* Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, in alignment with JCT 2016 D&B contract requirements.
* Conduct cost analysis and performance reporting for the MEP components.
* Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
* Prepare and analyse costings for tenders.
* Conduct feasibility studies and assist in establishing client requirements.
* Perform risk, value management, and cost control.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
* Engage in proactive problem-solving and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor.
* Experience working with Tier 1 contractors is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects up to £2-3M.
* Strong knowledge of construction, MEP processes, costs, and regulations.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Familiarity with JCT 2016 D&B contracts.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple priorities.
* Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.
