Description:

Our client is a well-established construction company based in York, delivering complex and varied projects across the commercial, retail, heritage and education sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final delivery.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving project success, ensuring strong financial control and adding value across a range of high-profile schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working collaboratively within a high-performing team environment.

Quantity Surveyor - Position Remuneration

Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and birthday off

Take ownership of the commercial management and financial performance of multiple construction projects
Manage projects from pre-construction stages through to completion and final account
Act as the commercial lead, ensuring effective cost control, reporting and financial governance
Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and external clients to support successful project delivery
Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance to maximise profitability
Prepare and review project valuations, variations, cost reports and financial forecasts
Support contract administration and commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
Identify commercial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing commercial guidance and support
Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets, programmes and company standardsQuantity Surveyor - Position Requirements

Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience acting as a commercial lead is essential
Degree-qualified with a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, or non-degree qualified with at least 7 years' relevant experience
Strong commercial awareness with excellent understanding of cost control and project financial management
Highly organised with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams
