Quantity Surveyor - Contract- Hybrid- Inside of Scope of IR35

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK’s leading Engineering solutions providers, to the Nuclear and Defence industries.

As a Quantity Surveyor, your role entails administering contracts, managing correspondence, and overseeing subcontract accounts, including handling prolongation claims and  requiring either existing security clearance or the ability to obtain it.  Familiarity with CEMAR software is beneficial. You will be  estimating project costs, procure materials, and control expenses to align with budgetary limits. Your proficiency in contract administration, cost control, and procurement will ensure successful project delivery. This will be a hybrid role where you will be 3 days on site and 2 days at home; should you require further flexibility this can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the client's project teams to prepare and manage project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.
Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing materials, subcontractors, and services, in line with project requirements and budget constraints.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve favourable terms and conditions.
Monitor project expenses closely and provide regular cost reports to project stakeholders.
Manage change orders and variations effectively, ensuring compliance with contract terms and minimizing project risks.
Provide valuable cost advice and support to our client's project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Work collaboratively with project managers to address cost-related issues and resolve disputes promptly.
Administer the contract by replying to commercial correspondence and managing subcontract accounts, including dealing with prolongation claims.
Utilize CEMAR software for project administration; previous experience with CEMAR would be beneficial.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
Sound knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
Familiarity with CEMAR and experience managing subcontract accounts is desirable.
Existing security clearance or the ability to obtain it is required.
Proficiency in construction cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) is desirable.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
