Quantity Surveyor – District Heating / Infrastructure

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support across a portfolio of district heating and energy infrastructure projects in London.
The role will have a particular focus on the civil and infrastructure elements of district heating networks, including highways works, buried utilities, excavation, pipework routes, reinstatement and associated infrastructure.
Previous district heating experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are particularly interested in Quantity Surveyors from highways, utilities, civil engineering or major infrastructure backgrounds who can transfer their commercial experience into the heat-network sector.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial management of district heating and infrastructure works from procurement through to final account.
Prepare and assess applications for payment, valuations, variations and compensation events.
Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and commercial performance.
Provide accurate cost forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and project change.
Support procurement and negotiation of subcontract packages.
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and delivery teams to maximise commercial performance.
Provide commercial support across civil works including highways, excavation, buried services, utilities and reinstatement.
Ensure contractual notices, records and supporting documentation are maintained.
Support final account preparation and commercial close-out.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within highways, infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering.
Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and associated change/compensation-event processes.
Good understanding of subcontract management, valuations, forecasting and cost control. These are also core requirements seen across current highways/infrastructure QS appointments.
Experience working on projects involving live highways, underground utilities or major civil engineering works would be particularly relevant.
District heating / heat-network experience is desirable but not essential.
Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
Able to operate independently within a project delivery environment.
Degree or equivalent experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
