Description:
Westwood Recruitment are currently on the lookout for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client in Manchester on a permanent basis. Our client works within the Commercial sector so you will need to have experience in that sector.
The successful candidate for the Quantity Surveyor position will be an integral part of a collaborative team, taking on the responsibility of independently managing and leading the procurement and commercial aspects of projects ranging from £500k to £25m.
Key Responsibilities:
·Collaborate closely with Project Manager(s) to ensure proposals align with design and cost considerations, maintaining compliance, coordination, and commercial appropriateness.
·Oversee all commercial aspects, including contract review, negotiations, procurement, and final account processes.
·Conduct tender analysis to ensure value for money and procure works at the best market rates.
·Review contract documentation, negotiate terms, and limit risks to the company.
·Provide accurate cost reports to internal and external clients, updating budgets via change orders and variations.
·Prepare and submit interim applications for payment, monitor cash flow, and manage project/package risk schedules.
·Resolve legal disputes in conjunction with the legal department and prepare and agree final accounts.
·Apply commercial and financial procedures, maintaining detailed cost forecasts, and reporting accurately to monthly forecast final accounts.
·Ensure all contracts address environmental management and BREEAM requirements.
·Evaluate tenders against cost plans and intervene to align cost or design differences.
·Use cost planning techniques and benchmarking data to support the development of cost plans.
·Assess individual subcontractors and suppliers' rates and prices.
Role Requirements
·Quantity Surveying Degree or working towards RICS or CIOB.
·Experience working for a Principal Contractor.
·Experience with tendering subcontract works and preparing subcontract documentation.
·Understanding of building technology and construction methods.
·Ability to read drawings and construction design information.
·Knowledge of contractual laws and construction legislations.
