Drive the Commercial Success of Major Infrastructure Projects A well-established UK Civil Engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team, supporting the delivery of projects across the South West Water AMP8 framework.
Working across a diverse portfolio of utility and civil engineering schemes, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are commercially successful from inception through to completion. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to join a family-owned business that values collaboration, invests in its people and is committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll oversee the commercial performance of multiple projects, partnering with operational and planning teams to maintain cost control, maximise profitability and ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed throughout delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Produce weekly cost and revenue reports to monitor project performance.
Oversee the commercial submission of completed works.
Prepare and manage Schedule of Rates for high-volume engineering activities.
Reconcile subcontractor accounts and produce payment certificates.
Work closely with Operational and Planning teams to monitor progress, variations and changes in project scope.
Review commercial performance to ensure forecasts and financial targets remain on track.
Accurately value and price completed works.
Attend client Work in Progress (WIP) meetings, providing commercial support and insight.
Analyse weekly and monthly financial data to support business decisions.
Identify commercial risks and opportunities while maintaining effective cost control across projects. About You
You'll bring proven commercial experience within the utilities or civil engineering sector and be confident managing multiple projects while building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and colleagues.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities or civil engineering.
A strong understanding of NEC contracts.
Experience managing subcontractors and high-volume programmes of work.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
Strong commercial awareness and financial reporting experience.
The confidence to challenge, influence and resolve commercial issues.
Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.
Experience supporting or mentoring junior commercial team members.
A proactive, detail-focused and solutions-driven approach.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required. Please note: Sponsorship is not available for this position.
