Description:
Quantity Surveyor
Glasgow | MOD Projects | Permanent
If you're a Quantity Surveyor who wants to work on serious projects with serious responsibility, this is worth a look.
We're recruiting Quantity Surveyors at multiple levels to work on a portfolio of high-value MOD projects across Scotland.
This isn't your typical commercial role. You'll be working on complex, security-sensitive construction projects where commercial discipline, attention to detail and sound judgement actually matter.
We're looking for QS professionals who want more than just another project on their CV.
THE ROLE
You'll take ownership of the commercial management of your projects, working closely with operational, commercial and project teams to make sure work is delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.
Depending on your level, you'll be involved in:
Managing the commercial and contractual performance of projects
Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
Subcontract procurement and management
Valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
Managing variations, compensation events and change
Identifying and mitigating commercial risk
Cost control and maintaining accurate forecasts
Supporting procurement and tendering activities
Working closely with project managers, site teams and senior commercial colleagues
Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders
Ensuring projects remain commercially controlled from start through to completion
WE'RE INTERESTED IN PEOPLE WHO...
We're not looking for someone who needs their hand held.
We're looking for Quantity Surveyors who are commercially sharp, organised and prepared to take ownership.
You'll ideally have:
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, infrastructure, engineering or a related environment
Strong commercial and contractual understanding
Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains
Good knowledge of cost control, forecasting and change management
Excellent attention to detail
Strong communication and negotiation skills
The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
A proactive approach to identifying commercial opportunities and risks
Relevant qualifications such as RICS, degree/HNC/HND or equivalent experienceMOD, defence, infrastructure or other highly regulated project experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
WHY THIS ROLE?
Because your next project should add something to your career.
You'll gain exposure to major MOD projects across Scotland, work alongside experienced commercial professionals and develop your expertise in an environment where commercial performance, compliance and delivery are taken seriously.
Whether you're an Assistant QS looking for the next step, an experienced QS ready for more responsibility, or a Senior QS looking for a bigger challenge, there's an opportunity to match your experience.
THIS IS FOR YOU IF...
You want:
More responsibility.
More complex projects.
More opportunity to develop.
And a project portfolio that actually strengthens your CV.
If you're a Quantity Surveyor and you're even slightly curious, let's have a conversation.
