The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Planned Repairs & Maintenance team. This role is ideal for a commercially astute professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of the financial performance of repairs, maintenance and refurbishment projects.
You will play a key role in delivering commercial success across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are profitable, risks are effectively managed, and contractual obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor all commercial activities across allocated contracts and projects.
Ensure project profitability through effective cost management, forecasting and cash flow control.
Prepare and submit Applications for Payment.
Review, validate and manage Schedule of Rates (SOR) data.
Assess specifications and ensure appropriate commercial coding and valuation.
Finalise completed works to ensure timely invoicing and revenue recovery.
Monitor material expenditure, plant hire and subcontractor costs.
Negotiate and secure best value from suppliers and subcontractors.
Manage variations, valuations and commercial change control.
Identify and maximise all chargeable opportunities.
Prepare and submit quotations, estimates and loss & expense claims where required.
Produce accurate cost-to-complete reports, forecasts and commercial performance reviews.
Identify contractual risks and advise operational teams accordingly.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and company policies.
Build strong working relationships with operational teams, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
About You
We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate:
Essential
Previous Quantity Surveying experience within repairs, maintenance, construction or social housing environments.
Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
Experience administering subcontractor accounts and managing variations.
Excellent forecasting, reporting and cash management capabilities.
Strong IT and data analysis skills.
Ability to interpret and manage contractual obligations.
Desirable
Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates.
Understanding of JCT, NEC and NHF contract forms.
Experience working with Price Per Property and Target Cost contract models.
Social housing sector experience.
