Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
A leading organisation within the UK energy and infrastructure sector is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major utility and renewable energy projects across Scotland on a 12-month contract basis. This hybrid role will focus on cost control, contract administration, commercial reporting, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently while maximising profitability and commercial performance.

Working closely with operational, project delivery, and commercial teams, you will help manage project finances, monitor performance against contract requirements, and support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects within a fast-paced environment.

You will play a key role in providing commercial insight, managing subcontractor relationships, analysing project costs and revenues, and ensuring contractual obligations are effectively administered throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Generate weekly revenue, cost, and commercial performance reports across multiple projects.
Monitor project progress and support the accurate submission of completed works.
Prepare and manage schedules of rates and commercial valuations.
Reconcile subcontractor costs and prepare payment applications and certificates.
Liaise with operational and project teams to monitor project delivery, variations, and scope changes.
Review project performance to ensure commercial and financial targets are achieved.
Support the pricing and valuation of completed works across high-volume project portfolios.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
Analyse weekly and monthly cost and revenue data to identify trends and opportunities.
Support contract administration activities and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. About You
You are an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background working within utilities, infrastructure, energy, or civil engineering environments and are confident managing commercial activities across multiple projects.
You enjoy working collaboratively with operational and delivery teams, helping to translate commercial data into practical insight and recommendations that support project success and profitability.
You are organised, commercially aware, and comfortable managing multiple priorities within a fast-moving project environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, energy, or renewable sectors.
Strong understanding of contract management and commercial administration.
Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and payment processes.
Excellent analytical and financial reporting skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
Experience working under NEC contracts.
FIDIC contract experience is essential.
Previous experience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects is essential.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Desirable:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
HNC/HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with relevant commercial experience.
Experience working on utility, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of cost forecasting, change management, and project financial controls.
