This role offers broad involvement across estimating, tendering, procurement, commercial management and final accounts, giving you exposure to both pre-construction and project delivery.
You’ll be joining a close-knit business where you can work across the full project lifecycle, support long-term client relationships and play a key role in both securing and delivering projects.
The business delivers refurbishment, alteration and improvement works across sectors including education, healthcare, local authority and wider public sector settings, with projects ranging from smaller works through to multi-million-pound schemes.
The Role
You’ll support the commercial and estimating function across multiple projects, working closely with operational teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing estimates, tenders and pricing submissions
Managing procurement and subcontractor packages
Overseeing valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts
Producing commercial reports, forecasts and project financial updates
Supporting tender submissions, framework opportunities and pre-qualification documentation
Assisting with written quality responses and bid information
Working closely with project teams to manage commercial performance
Building relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
Helping improve commercial, estimating and tendering processes
About You
The role would suit a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor / Estimator who enjoys variety and wants involvement in both pre-construction and project delivery.
You will ideally have:
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or QS/Estimator
Experience with a building contractor, refurbishment contractor or similar construction environment
Good knowledge of estimating, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
Experience supporting tenders, bids, frameworks or pre-construction activity
Confidence working with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
Good written communication skills, particularly around tender or quality submissions
A practical, organised and collaborative approach
Experience across refurbishment, alterations, education, healthcare, local authority or public sector projects would be beneficial, but broader building contractor experience will also be considered.
What’s On Offer
Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience
£6,000 car allowance
Up to 20% bonus
26 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Permanent position with an established regional building contractor
Varied refurbishment and alteration projects
Involvement across both estimating and commercial delivery
Exposure to public sector frameworks and repeat client relationships
Opportunity to make a visible impact within a close-knit SME environment
Long-term development opportunity
This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator who wants variety, involvement and visibility, with the chance to support estimating, tendering, project delivery and client relationships across a broad range of refurbishment projects
