About the Company

Our client is an established design and build contractor with experience across refurbishment, renovation, fit-out and construction projects.

The business works across both commercial and domestic environments, delivering projects from initial design and planning through to construction and completion. With a strong focus on quality, workmanship and delivering projects on time and within budget, the company is now looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join the business and take responsibility for the commercial management of refurbishment and fit-out projects across Lancashire.

You will work closely with the project and site teams, managing costs from procurement through to final account while ensuring projects remain commercially controlled and profitable.

This role would suit an experienced QS from a refurbishment, fit-out, interiors or general building background who is looking for a position with responsibility and the opportunity to play an important role within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial management of refurbishment and fit-out projects

Managing project costs, budgets and financial performance

Preparing and reviewing valuations and applications for payment

Managing subcontractor procurement and packages

Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations

Preparing subcontract orders and reviewing contractual documentation

Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets

Managing variations, change and additional works

Preparing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow information

Identifying commercial risks and opportunities

Working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams

Managing subcontractor accounts and payments

Reviewing progress and completed works for valuation purposes

Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts

Maintaining accurate commercial records

Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders

Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects from start to finish

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor

Experience within refurbishment, fit-out, interiors or general building

Strong commercial and contractual knowledge

Experience managing subcontractor packages

Good understanding of procurement and cost control

Experience with valuations, variations and final accounts

Strong negotiation and communication skills

Good numerical and analytical ability

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Confident working with project and site teams

Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous

Full UK driving licence
