About the Opportunity
H9 Talent Solutions is supporting a leading engineering contractor delivering a major Energy from Waste (EfW) project in North London. We are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager on an initial six-month contract to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities during the structural steel erection phase of the project.
This is a site-based role with a strong focus on ensuring all structural steel installation and welding activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, industry standards and client quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all site quality activities relating to structural steel erection.
Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures and project specifications.
Review and approve quality documentation, inspection records and turnover dossiers.
Coordinate inspections with client representatives, third-party inspectors and subcontractors.
Verify structural steel installation complies with design drawings, fabrication requirements and relevant standards.
Monitor welding quality, NDT reports and associated documentation.
Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions and close-out activities.
Conduct internal quality audits and site inspections.
Support project completion and handover documentation.
Promote a strong quality culture across the project team while working closely with Construction, Engineering and HSE departments.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer on heavy industrial construction projects.
Previous experience on Energy from Waste, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Heavy Industrial projects.
Extensive knowledge of structural steel erection and installation.
Strong understanding of fabrication, welding and inspection processes.
Experience managing ITPs, quality documentation and client inspections.
Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, welding documentation and engineering specifications.
Mandatory Qualifications
CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector (Essential)
Valid CSCS Card
Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent) preferred.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of EN 1090 and execution standards for structural steelwork.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Experience working with EPC contractors.
Previous experience delivering large-scale industrial or energy infrastructure projects.
