Description:

Quality Manager - Manufacturing

Hertford | £50,000 | 4.5-day working week

Fed up with managing quality from behind a desk?

This is a Quality Manager role where you'll actually be able to change things.

We're recruiting for a small, established UK manufacturer in Hertford looking for someone to take ownership of Quality and become a key part of the operation.

You'll be working directly with the people designing, making and inspecting the products - improving processes, tackling quality issues properly and making sure standards are being followed on the shop floor.

You don't need to come from medical devices.

What matters most is that you understand quality within a manufacturing environment, have worked with an ISO-accredited QMS (ideally ISO 9001 or similar), and know how to turn quality requirements into practical processes that people can actually follow.

What you'll be getting stuck into

Owning and continually improving the QMS
Leading internal and external audits
Investigating NCRs and driving CAPA/root cause activity
Working directly with production to resolve quality issues
Supporting supplier quality and supplier issues
Improving drawings, specifications, BOMs, procedures and work instructions
Identifying gaps and putting practical improvements in place
Helping strengthen quality across the whole manufacturing operationWho would suit this?

You might already be a Quality Manager, or you could be a Senior Quality Engineer, Quality Lead or Quality Supervisor ready to take ownership of a quality function.

We'd particularly like to hear from people who have:

Quality experience within manufacturing or engineering
Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 or another recognised QMS
Hands-on experience with NCRs, CAPA and root cause analysis
Worked closely with production/manufacturing teams
The confidence to challenge something that isn't working - and then help fix itExperience within an SME would be useful, but it's the hands-on mentality we're really interested in.

Medical device experience is not essential. If you're coming from another regulated or quality-led manufacturing environment, the company can support you in developing your knowledge of ISO 13485.

Why consider it?

This isn't a huge corporate quality department where you'll own one small piece of the puzzle.

You'll have real visibility, real responsibility and real influence over how quality operates across the business.

You'll also benefit from a 4.5-day working week, working for an established Hertfordshire manufacturer producing products that are used within healthcare.

If you're the person who spots something on the shop floor and thinks, "there has to be a better way of doing this" we should probably talk.
