Quality Manager
£50,000 - £60,000 D.O.E | Pontypool, Fully Onsite | Permanent
Contract also considered, rate negotiable
The opportunity:
Our client, a specialist vehicle conversion manufacturer, is looking for a hands-on Quality Manager to take ownership of product quality at their Pontypool site. This is an urgent requirement.
The Role:
Lead and manage a small quality team including a Quality Engineer, technicians and inspectors
Hands-on role - you'll be leading the team but also doing QE work yourself
Own non-conformance and root cause processes, driving permanent corrective actions
Authority to stop release of finished product if standards aren't met
Work closely with production, NPI and R&D to ensure quality is built in before handover to manufacturing
Liaise with your counterpart at the group's second site on a fortnightly basis, with occasional travel
Report into the Senior Quality Manager overseeing quality across both sites
Manage quality KPIs including scrap, rework and out-of-sequence product
Lead quality audits, FMEA, PPAP and control plan management
Support new product introduction and pre-production trials, including work on premium OEM prototype programmes
What They're Looking For:
Strong hands-on Quality Engineering background, ideally with some team leadership, OR an established Quality Manager
Solid knowledge of ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP and FMEA
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience
Comfortable reading engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing processes
Strong root cause and problem-solving skills (8D, 5W2H, PDCA)
Automotive or vehicle manufacturing background preferred
Full clean UK driving licence
Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
