The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and growing UK construction and engineering services organisation with an impressive portfolio of projects across a range of sectors. With a strong order book and an expanding pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager to strengthen their quality function and support the successful delivery of projects nationwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with experience in engineering, construction, or civil engineering environments to take a lead role in quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement across a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will work closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that work is delivered right first time, in line with contractual requirements, technical specifications, industry standards, and the company’s ISO 9001 quality management system.

The Role

As Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities across projects, providing expert guidance to operational teams and ensuring that quality standards are consistently maintained.

Your responsibilities will include:

Quality Management and Compliance

Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans and associated quality assurance documentation.

Ensure compliance with client specifications, contractual requirements, and relevant industry standards.

Carry out quality inspections, internal audits, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

Produce monthly quality and progress reports for clients and senior management.

Prepare regular quality updates and reports for the Board.

Inspection and Testing

Develop, implement, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Support site teams with inspections to ensure works meet required specifications and quality standards.

Ensure Inspection and Test Checks (ITCs) are completed accurately and within the required timescales.

Provide practical quality guidance to project and delivery teams across UK sites.

Quality Documentation and Records

Lead the implementation and use of digital quality assurance systems, including Viewpoint Field View.

Oversee the management of digital and paper-based QA records in accordance with client requirements.

Maintain oversight of concrete placement records, cube report registers, and other project quality documentation.

Compile and coordinate project handover and quality documentation for clients.

Support the effective management of snagging, defects, and inspection records.

Nonconformance and Corrective Actions

Assist with the identification, recording, and management of nonconformances and snags.

Support root cause analysis and the development of appropriate corrective actions.

Monitor corrective actions through to successful close-out.

Promote a proactive approach to quality improvement and defect prevention.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a key point of contact for clients and their representatives on quality-related matters.

Attend site meetings and provide quality updates and technical support.

Build strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and operational colleagues.

Ensure quality concerns are communicated effectively and resolved promptly.

Continuous Improvement

Champion a right-first-time culture throughout the business.

Support lessons-learned initiatives, quality KPIs, and performance reporting.

Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the ISO 9001 management system.

Encourage consistent quality standards and best practice across projects and teams.

About You

We are looking for a quality professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach to quality assurance. You will be confident working across office and construction site environments, engaging with delivery teams, and ensuring that quality requirements are understood and achieved.

Essential Skills and Experience

Previous experience in quality assurance within an engineering, construction, civil engineering, or related project environment.

Experience carrying out quality inspections and audits.

Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.

Good understanding of quality control processes and project quality requirements.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system.

Comfortable working on active construction sites and travelling to locations across the UK.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with project and delivery teams.

A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach to quality management.

Travel regularly to construction sites, supplier facilities, and client meetings across the UK.

Work within active construction environments and comply with all relevant site safety requirements.

Use laptops, tablets, and digital systems to complete inspections, maintain records, and produce reports.

Engage frequently with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and operational teams.

Promote safe working practices and comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
