Quality Manager – Manufacturing / Fabrication
Location: West Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are recruiting on behalf of an established, privately owned manufacturing business operating within the heavy engineering and fabrication sector.
The company has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fabricated products to a varied industrial customer base and is looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager to lead and develop its quality function.
This is not a role for someone focused purely on systems, statistics and reporting. The business is looking for someone with a genuine passion for quality, workmanship and the finished product — someone who is comfortable being visible on the shopfloor, challenging standards and working closely with production teams to improve quality at source.
Previous fabrication experience is essential.
The Role
You will take responsibility for quality standards across the manufacturing operation, working closely with production, engineering, senior management and customers.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Lead and develop the Quality team.
* Maintain and improve quality systems, procedures and controls.
* Oversee audits, inspections and quality assessments.
* Manage non-conformances, corrective actions and root cause investigations.
* Work closely with production teams to improve product quality and reduce repeat issues.
* Maintain the Quality Management System and support ISO compliance.
* Review quality data and identify trends and improvement opportunities.
* Produce clear quality reporting for senior management.
* Act as a key point of contact for customer quality matters.
* Support continuous improvement activity across the business.
* Ensure quality documentation and records are accurate and up to date.
What We Are Looking For
* Strong experience within a fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience in a Quality Manager, Quality Engineer or similar quality-focused role.
* A genuine passion for product quality and workmanship, not just processes and statistics.
* Good understanding of fabrication quality standards and inspection processes.
* Experience working with Quality Management Systems, ideally including ISO 9001.
* Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
* Previous experience managing or developing quality personnel.
* A practical, hands-on approach.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Client-facing experience is essential, with the confidence to manage quality discussions, technical queries and customer concerns.
