Quality Inspector (Nights)

Devonport, Plymouth Long-Term Contract Opportunity 4 Days On / 4 Days Off

Carmichael UK is recruiting for a number of experienced Quality Inspectors to join a major civil engineering and infrastructure project based at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile, safety-critical project, supporting the delivery of significant infrastructure works within a highly regulated environment.

The Role

As a Quality Inspector, you will provide quality assurance and inspection support across a range of civil engineering activities, ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with specifications, inspection test plans (ITPs), procedures and quality requirements.

You will be responsible for monitoring quality performance throughout construction activities and ensuring that all quality records are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Working Pattern:

Initial training period on day shifts

Moving onto permanent night shifts (7:00pm - 5:30am)

4 days on / 4 days off rotation

Enhanced shift rates available

Expenses claimable in addition to hourly rate

Key Responsibilities

Carry out quality inspections in accordance with specifications and ITP requirements

Attend kick-off meetings and pre-inspection production meetings where required

Support supply chain quality assessments and capability reviews

Verify dimensional inspection reports and critical measurements

Monitor compliance with approved procedures, quality plans and inspection requirements

Ensure only suitably qualified and experienced personnel undertake inspection and testing activities

Witness inspections, testing activities, factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests

Verify calibration status of inspection and testing equipment

Identify, report and verify corrective actions for non-conformances

Produce daily and weekly inspection reports

Support the generation and verification of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs)

Assist with final inspections and certification activities

Report progress and quality performance to the wider quality team

Requirements

Essential

Previous quality inspection or quality assurance experience on construction projects

Civil engineering construction experience

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and standards

Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)

Desirable

Experience working within nuclear, defence or MOD environments

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

Experience on large-scale infrastructure or complex engineering projects

ISO 9001 Auditor qualification

HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar discipline

Valid CSCS Card
