Description:

We are looking for two experienced Quality Inspectors (with CMM Programming experience) to support a customer's final inspection team in South Somerset.

The role will involve visual, manual, Faro and CMM inspection of manufactured components and assemblies. You will need strong mechanical inspection skills, the ability to work from engineering drawings and the confidence to both program and operate CMM equipment.

The customer uses Aberlink CMM systems, although candidates with strong programming experience on other platforms, such as PC-DMIS, may also be considered, with Aberlink orientation being available.

Key Responsibilities

Perform manual inspection using micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges and other conventional metrology equipment against drawing and specification requirements
Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, specifications and GD&T requirement and in turn perform inspection using appropriate inspection methods and establish measurements from first principles.
Use Faro equipment and visual inspection techniques where required.
Create, prove out, modify and run CMM programs.
Carry out detailed part and assembly measurement using CMM equipment.
Accurately record inspection results and clearly document any non-conformances.
Gather relevant inspection results, certificates and supporting evidence for FAI and PPAP packs.
Enter inspection information into documentation prepared by Quality Engineering and return it for validation.

Experience Required

A minimum of three years' experience within aerospace, defence or a closely related precision engineering industry, working in mechanical or dimensional inspection roles.
Previous experience as a CMM Programmer, CMM Inspector or Mechanical Inspector.
Strong first-principles mechanical and dimensional inspection skills.
Able to program CMM equipment using Aberlink, or very strong experience programming using similar programs.
Confident setting up and inspecting a range of manufactured components and assemblies.
Strong engineering drawing interpretation and GD&T knowledge.
Competent using handheld and conventional metrology equipment.
Experience recording clear, accurate and traceable inspection results.
An understanding of the inspection information required for FAI or PPAP documentation.
Good IT literacy, being able to update excel files and use other Microsoft applications.This role is inside IR35
