ESS Recruit’s client is a global high growth electronics manufacturing and engineering business. The business has grown significantly and can proudly boast a world class international customer base with operations in the USA, UK and Asia. After a significant multi-million-pound investment to drive new product development and substantial growth in people and operations, the business is looking expand production worldwide. At this time, they need to make the key hire of a Quality Engineer.

The Quality Engineer will play a key role in helping build out the internal QMS, audit schedule and supplier development processes. There is a heavy emphasis on the implementation of a Calibration database through company ERP system to enable control and monitoring of all calibrated equipment, the implementation of PFMEA and DFMEA processes and the development of new documentation; control plans, quality plans, procedures and policies (supporting volume manufacturing) for sites here and abroad.  Key responsibilities will include:

Measure Supplier performance and work closely with procurement manager.
Using metrology techniques, ensure product meets customer specification.
Develop and maintain CTQ documentation and manage and delegate COPQ projects.
Support / Lead customer audits and review, update and maintain the QMS database.
Plan and execute the internal audit schedule as per ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Ensure all staff are appropriately trained and training records are updated on training matrix.
Develop and build relationships with internal and external customers.
Manage and delegate continuous improve activities improving products and processes.
Respond to customer complaints in agreed timescales.
Provide leadership and guidance to QA team members.
Establish and maintain quality documentation guidelines.
Attend daily production meetings and manage resource requirements for QC dpt.
Continuously review internal CARs, SCARs and 8D actions and drive to closure We are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer used to working in a high volume environment where the calibration of equipment and associated metrology tools is critical. This role will likely suit a quality engineering professional from a background in volume PCB / electronic manufacturing or assembly. A strong working knowledge to audit level in ISO 9001:2015 is taken as a given and you are able to bring modern quality assurance and CI tools including 8D, PFMEA and DFMEA to the table. We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who understand QA/QC around PCB thickness and flatness and associated metrology equipment and processes.
