The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will provide QA/QC support and expertise to a project team delivering critical works in a highly controlled operational environment. You will establish a strong on-site quality presence, build effective working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, and ensure client quality requirements are clearly flowed down and evidenced through robust records and verification.

Typical activities will include:

Supporting project management and functional leads to implement the required project procedures, processes and plans
Reviewing enquiry, tender and contract documentation (including ITPs, Quality Plans and specifications) to assure compliance with client and contractual quality requirements
Attending site regularly to plan and manage inspections and surveillance of supplier QA/QC activities (hybrid: 3 days on site/office, 2 days from home)
Conducting internal quality and supplier audits/health checks, identifying non-conformance and driving improvement actions
Monitoring quality performance against agreed KPIs/criteria and escalating areas of concern appropriately
Overseeing product verification activities, including surveillance of manufacturing/installation, FAT/SAT, and release inspections
Capturing and tracking quality-related risks and opportunities, NCRs and defect notifications
Leading quality investigations, root cause analysis, and supplier escalation/intervention where required
Defining Lifetime Quality Records content and coordinating collation, review and approval of final documentation packs
Liaising proactively with third parties and Government Quality Assurance Representatives (GQAR) as requiredYou will have the following qualifications & experience

Proven ability to understand, implement and assure quality management systems aligned to ISO 9001:2015
Extensive experience in quality engineering delivery within a highly regulated/high-integrity industry (e.g., defence, nuclear, oil & gas, aerospace, pharmaceutical)
Demonstrable experience delivering quality engineering across multiple projects and domains
Proficient IT capability across Word, Excel, SharePoint and wider Microsoft tools
Strong report writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
SC clearance (or the ability to obtain SC prior to starting)
Industry-recognised auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor)
Relevant engineering qualification at HNC level (Level 4+) or equivalent proven experienceDesirable:

Understanding of naval base environments, nuclear compliance/legislation, and MoD quality requirements (e.g., AQAP 2110/2105)
Associated professional membership (e.g., CQI/IRCA)
NDE/NDT qualification (e.g., PCN/CSWIP)
