This role sits within a precision engineering environment supporting high-profile aerospace programmes, with a strong focus on inspection, compliance, and product conformity assurance.

Principal Function

Goods In Inspector

Working within UAP, Goods Inward Inspection, or Despatch (depending on deployment), responsible for ensuring all products, processes, and documentation meet specified aerospace and customer requirements.

Reporting To

Process Manager or SQA Manager (depending on deployment area)

Mission

Conduct inspection activities (measurement, gauging, examination, visual and dimensional checks) to verify product conformity.
Compare results against engineering drawings, specifications, and defined acceptance criteria.
Accurately record inspection results and maintain full traceability.
Identify, record, and contain non-conforming product in line with procedures.
Apply a “Stop at First Defect” mindset and act as an ambassador for quality escalation.
Support Quality Notification (QN) eradication and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all delivered products conform to specified aerospace requirements.

Principal Activities

Validation of inspection operations in accordance with procedures and technical documentation.
Recording inspection results in line with quality systems and compliance standards.
Completion and reporting of inspection data for QRQC reviews and quality analysis.
Raising, managing, and closing Quality Notifications (QN) in accordance with procedures.
Completion and validation of delivery documentation packs where required.
Supporting First Article Inspection, PVI, PPAP, batch records, and quality reports.
Participation in MRB (Material Review Board) activities where delegated.
Supporting CDQR, regulatory signatory tasks where authorised.
Engagement in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
Supporting TPM and first-line maintenance activities within the cell.
Ensuring adherence to all EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) procedures.

Mandatory Expertise

R1 / P1 Requirements

Time-served apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Competent in visual and dimensional inspection using precision equipment.
Experience completing inspection documentation (First Article, PVI, PPAP, batch cards, SNAG data, QNs).
Understanding of rework/repair closure rules and quality verification.
Meets required visual acuity standards (with or without correction).
R2 / P2 (Additional)

Ability to complete delivery documentation packs and trace source data.
MRB delegation (where authorised).
Regulatory release delegation (where authorised).
Enhanced responsibility level (P2+ if required by business).
P2+ (Additional)

Knowledge of customer-specific procedures and acceptance criteria.
Competence in completing inspection checklists and quality reports.
Understanding of aerospace customer regulatory requirements.

Technical Know-How

Tools & Systems

Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant systems (e.g. SAP, Adobe).
Familiarity with inspection systems and quality procedures.
