Abatec are recruiting for a Quality Control Technician for our client in Wellington
In this role, you will provide hands-on quality control support across goods-inwards and production activities, ensure that purchased components and manufactured products meet defined quality requirements, and that non-conforming products are identified, controlled, and reported effectively.

Main Duties
* Support goods-inwards inspection of purchased components, materials and assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order requirements and relevant quality standards.
* Prioritise inspection activities based on risk, product criticality, compliance requirements and production needs.
* Maintain accurate and traceable inspection and quality records, providing data to support reporting, audits and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Identify and control non-conforming products, raise non-conformance reports, and support investigations, corrective actions and close-out activities.
* Carry out routine and ad hoc in-process inspections, maintaining a visible quality presence on the shop floor and working proactively with production teams.
* Support root cause analysis activities by providing inspection evidence and structured feedback.
* Carry out or support internal and supplier audits where required.
* Use measuring equipment such as verniers, multimeters and other inspection tools correctly, ensuring calibration requirements are followed where applicable.
* Identify recurring issues, trends and risks, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects, rework, waste and quality risks.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a quality control, inspection or manufacturing support role, including goods-inwards and/or in-process inspection.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
* Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, multimeters and other basic inspection tools.
* Understanding of non-conformance control, corrective action and concession processes.
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality management systems.
* Experience working within manufacturing or assembly environments involving electrical or electromechanical products.
* Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel for inspection records, reporting and basic data analysis.
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
* Understanding of basic audit principles, with experience carrying out or supporting internal and supplier audits desirable.
* IPC-610 and/or IPC-620 certification, or equivalent practical experience, is desirable.
